Jotto Desk has traditionally offered a vertical “bar style” window armor and released our version for the PI Sedan & PI Utility in February.  As we have continued to interact and listen to a couple of our most valuable assets … those actually putting the cars together and those driving the cars…we have discovered a need that was not adequately being met.  That need was for this type of Window Armor – the Secure-Grid Window Armor.  You can now protect your vehicles while transporting prisoners with Jotto Desk's line of Secure-Grid Window Armor and Door Panels. The Window Armor is easy to install, prevents side windows from being kicked out and nobody can reach in or out of the prisoner compartment. Door Panels protect door mechanisms, prohibit contraband from being hidden and are very easy to clean. These items are designed for a perfect fit in the 2013+ Ford Interceptors.

The 2013+ Ford PI Sedan and Utility required their own unique solutions for mounting weapons in the rear of the vehicle.  The PI Sedan was much more “traditional” and straight forward, while the PI Utility was more of a challenge.  In the end, the gun rack design allows either an AR-15 or Remington 870 Police Magnum to be mounted to the lower hatch of the PI Utility.

Since its release, hundreds of agencies have realized the tremendous benefit offered by the Space Creator partitions – giving the most room for the driver while still allowing room for a prisoner. They have invested in the most significant improvement in partitions and have made the Space Creator partition the only partition they will accept. Originally made available for the 2011+ Dodge Charger, Jotto Desk recognized the limited space with the PI Sedan and Utility were nearly identical to the Charger. We are pleased to announce the release of the Space Creator Partition Line for the 2013+ Ford Police Interceptor Sedan and Utility (PI Sedan/PI Utility).

Space is a premium in the PI Sedan & PI Utility...Space for the driver and space for the prisoner. This issue continues to be a tremendous challenge for all agencies. If you choose a partition designed for maximum room for the driver, then you will discover that the available space for a prisoner is quite limited. On the other hand, if you choose a partition designed so that someone can be arrested and transported...then the driver will not be able to enjoy the full travel of the seat, limiting their comfort.  Jotto Desk solved that problem with the Space Creator partition line. (patent pending).

Our research led us to focus on two needs.  One - improve visibility and Two – provide easy/consistent cleanability.  We heard from Fleet Managers, Deputies and Officers – the number one complaint was lack of visibility as a driver.  Brackets/Slats/Frames/Mesh/etc were reducing what they saw in their rear view mirror.  Prisoners routinely leave a mixture of spit, sweat, blood and more on the window…that when combined with “expanded metal” – make the rear view mirror a waste of time.  The NEW High Security/High Visibility (HS/HV) Window gives officers the  best of both worlds – tremendous sight lines, whether looking out the rearview or turning around and the 4”H x 11”W window allows for communication/passing information but there won’t be anyone that will squeeze through this opening.  The HS/HV window increases the visible area by a whopping 41% vs. older style windows.  If a prisoner spits/bleeds/smears the window – it is still cleanable…not so with those using the “expanded metal”.  For those agencies that want a more traditional look – we have designed the Full Window w/Safety Wire. This opening is 11”H x 11”W and has a Safety Wire covering over that opening.  This Safety Wire barrier can be removed for “cleaning purposes” without completely disassembling the partition window while providing the larger, more traditional look/size.

The Jotto Desk Bio-Seat/Floor Pan for the Ford PI Sedan has been designed for two main purposes.  One, it greatly reduces the ability for a prisoner to hide contraband or weapons.  Two, it provides for pathogen control and allows for easy clean-up. The gray color of our ABS Bio-Seat/Floor Pan helps to reduce temperature buildup inside the vehicle and the gray color provides an ideal contrast vs. contraband/weapons attempting to being hidden.

 The Bio-Seat/Floor Pan for the Ford PI Sedan are quickly and easily installed with minimal drilling required. Mounting brackets have been designed that secure to OEM sub-structure and provide secure mounting points for the seat.  The new Floor Pan design maximizes footroom for prisoner as it conforms to the OEM sub-structure and interacts seamlessly with our Space Creator Partition Line.  We still have final fit testing to do, once production PI Sedans start shipping.  Once approved, we can produce a short run – to hopefully carry us through the time necessary to build our production mold.
